In my opinion no-knock warrants are wrong and unconstitutional. They are wrong because police officers shouldn't be allowed to just barge in someones home. The resident should be notified before the police officer enters and should be the one to let them in. No-knock warrants are unconstitutional because it violates a persons human right to privacy. ¨No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his/her privacy, family, home or correspondence¨. But no-knock warrants allows police enforcement to invade someones privacy which violates their human right to privacy. In the cartoon above you can see the police officers invading a family's privacy, the police officers woke the poor pair up. Even scared the guy because he has a bat in his hand. In the bubble it says "We have the right to break in and enter, anything you do to resist can be held against you". If police officers have the right to break in and enter into someones home than they're no better than criminals. Police officers should not be issued these type of warrants, its wrong and unjust.
In my class we're reading a play called "The Crucible" and in that play many to most characters are accused of witchcraft. First thing that came to mind when I researched this topic was this play. How all these characters were accused and how they were taken to court for trial. Just like these police officers and their no-knock warrants. The police officers just break into your home and take you away, they arrest you. Back then during the witch trials and today in day no one should have the right to break into your home and arrest you. It's not right. No one has the right to invade your privacy. So yes no-knock warrants are unconstitutional, they violate peoples human rights.
No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his/her privacy, family, home or correspondence. - This text is from The Universal Declaration of Human Rights and should be quoted and cited. This is plagiarism, Kevin! Please fix. http://www.un.org/en/universal-declaration-human-rights/
ReplyDeleteI noticed what I did wrong and went back quoted the human right and cited it. Thank you Mrs. Tinsley
DeleteI agree with you, no-knock warrants are scary. The officers who are supposed to protect us should not be allowed to break into my home unannounced. Law enforcement should be protecting my human rights, not taking them away and abusing their power.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your comment, that´s why I made this article. Wanted to get my point and my view on no-knock warrants across. No-knock warrants are wrong and unconstitutional because like you said law enforcement if issued this warrant, are allowed to break into someones home like yours and violate your human right to privacy. Which is wrong and abuse of their power. I agree with you bro.
DeleteI agree with this blog no cope should be allowed to brake in to someones house with out a warrant or without the persons consent. But theirs also a down side to this. Do to the fact that if waiting for the person consent to enter there house it would allow the criminal to get away in enough time and make it harder for the police to catch them. so there is an upside and a down side to this article.
ReplyDeleteYou made a valid point, no-knock warrants are issued to catch criminals in this case a no-knock warrant should be allowed. But most of the time law enforcement are issued this warrant violate peoples right.
Deletewhat are something being done to stop no-knock warrants and if their is would it be the right way to stop criminals from causing more crime. but I do agree with that you are trying to say; most people shouldn't even be considered a criminal. overall good job with your research.
